12-14, 2010: The Christian as Pilgrim: Wisdom for the Road
from the Lives and Works of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien
led by Dr. Jim Gulledge Jim
is the Director of Academic Support Services at Pfeiffer
University. This retreat will focus on a Christian
modification of Carl Jung/Joseph Campbell's journey of the
hero. Participants will examine their own spiritual
pilgrimage with hopefully helpful insights from the collected
wisdom of Lewis and Tolkien, often considered two of the
most effective Christian apologists of the past century.
Knowledge of their work is not required, but will certainly
be helpful. Short excerpts from Lewis and Tolkien's
works and vital biographical information on their lives
will be provided to all retreat participants. The only requirements
are an open mid and joyful heart! Overnight
