The Snail’s Pace, founded in 1969 by Connie Furrer & Frances Dudley as a retreat ministry for individuals, began with the purchase of the Little House and 4 acres of property. In 1984 the ministry expanded with the addition of the Big House and the Treehouse. The completion of the expansion increased the accommodation space from six individuals to the current capacity of up to twenty. Connie and Frances left The Snail’s Pace in 1997 for retirement. Connie is living in Saluda, again, after a number of years at Pawley Island, SC. Frances died in November 2008.
